Bakehouse in the Barn
Baker Sophie Smith cooks up a storm in her tiny oak framed barn- kitchen at her home in Hovingham.
Sophie ran a multi award winning café and deli for 11 years which featured in Country Living, The Times and Independent before selling up in search of a simpler life in 2014.
‘I wanted to strip everything back’ says Sophie,’ to return to baking with the seasons and cheerful
banter with customers’.
Sophie brings a colourful selection of sweet treats to market and has a strong following for her patisserie inspired delights. Expect cherry and pistachio bundts, Yorkshire rhubarb and custard tarts and dreamy, super light lemon meringue pies.

Bay View Bees
I am Dave, a bee farmer based in Flixton, North Yorkshire. I travelling our bees around the Yorkshire Wold’s, the vale of Pickering, the vale of York and on to the North Yorkshire moors to get different honey from different flowers.
All our honey is cold extracted and then jarred, all we do is put it through a filter to remove anything that you wouldn’t want, leaving everything that you do want behind; all the goodness of honey and maybe a few flecks of pollen!
We also do beginners beekeeping courses throughout May, June and July and sell nucleus colonies of bees. So if you fancy starting keeping bees on your own please get in touch!
Husband and wife team Claire and Bertie Bingham have been handcrafting the Butterflies Chocolates range in their chocolate kitchen in Pocklington since 2009. The finest sustainably-sourced Belgian chocolate is partnered with all natural ingredients in their bars, chocolates and other treats.
Butterflies Chocolates also offer chocolate workshops, talks and tastings.

Glorious Game aims to help increase the popularity of this hugely underappreciated but lean, nutritious & delicious meat.
Contrary to what many believe, game doesn’t have to be “gamey”. Some is more so than others; it’s simply all in the preparation. Ultimately however, from field to fork all wild game will lead a healthy life, with an entirely natural diet – as you can too! Due to their free range lifestyle in the great outdoors game birds are lean, low in cholesterol and offer a great alternative to many other meats being completely sustainable.
Nor does game have to be scary! We understand that many people would rather try something familiar and so we have created a recognisable range of dishes to suit differing tastes. These include Bolognese, Lasagne, Chilli, Cottage Pie, Coq au Vin and Pheasant in Ale casserole.
Welcome to the Hovingham Bakery from the Hovingham Bakery and Rolling Pin Cafe. We are Victoria and Simon who took over the business in November 2016.
Victoria is from northern Sweden and she brings a Scandinavian touch to the style, the service and the baked goods on offer. Simon has been a chef all his life and loves to create. He is in the kitchen from 4am nurturing the doughs which will produce the freshly baked cobs and loaves for each day.
Both Victoria and Simon have a catering background, they have an impressive 42 years of combined experience in both front of house and kitchen.
Our philosophy is to serve freshly baked breads, sweet and savoury treats and light lunch dishes with both Swedish and British influence in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves on what we serve and of course happy custome
Our aim is to bring people great cheese, made using handmade and traditional methods, to the people of the North (and all over the world!). We make a range of cheese from sweet Cheddars to crumbly Wendsleydales, tangy Goat's Cheeses to creamy Blues. We offer a range of other products, such as cheese making courses & kits and cheese wedding cakes!
Malton Brewery brews it’s beer in a characterful Grade 2 Listed building located on the banks of the River Derwent in Malton.
It has a beautiful idyllic setting next to the river, bringing back Malton’s tradition of brewing beer on the banks of the River Derwent, just like they did in 1767.

Tancred Farm Shop
We are Tancred Farm Shop a small family run business selling Lincoln Red Beef, Pork, Lamb, Homemade Sausages and Dry Cured Bacon using animals we rear ourselves on our 120 acre family farm. We like to provide a real farm to fork experience where in the summer you can see the Cattle grazing in the fields, hanging in the cold room and then in the counter for you to have something great for your tea. Our Pork is really tasty and getting a piece of shoulder really does help to get some good cracking. Our Beef and our Lamb is all Grass Fed making it well marbled meat and some good for you and tasty fat. Our Farm Shop is at Whixley near Green Hammerton Open 7 Days a Week, Weekdays 8am-6pm.
Thornton's Bakehouse & Butchers
We're Thornton's Bakehouse & Butchers, a Bakery and Butchers located in the busy market town of Easingwold, in the heart of rural North Yorkshire. We're a third-generation family run business, owned by John Thornton, the son of Geoff from Thornton's Butchers which used to sit in Easingwold marketplace. We specialise in handcrafted Pork Pies, Pastries and quality, local Meats.
Our Pies and Pastries are made by hand and baked daily in our Bakery in the centre of Easingwold. We take great pride in producing delicious, hearty, traditional products which taste as good as they look and uphold the exceptional Thornton’s reputation, developed over decades of serving our customers.
We offer a wide range of Pies in various sizes and many delicious flavours; from the Traditional Pork Pie to Pork Pies flavoured with chilli, topped with mouth-watering chutney or dressed with chunks of black pudding & stewed apple. Along with our famous Pork Pies we have created a range of other savoury pies; Diced Steak, Chicken & Leek, Lamb & Minted Vegetables, Game & Red Currant and Mince & Onion. We also offer a variety of Pasties, Sausage Rolls, Quiches and our ever popular rustic Scotch Eggs. Keep your eye out for our Bakery specials which can be found in our Shop and on our market stalls; specials range from Sausage, Bacon & Cheese Turnovers wrapped in our speciality flaky pastry to Black Pudding Scotch Eggs, with many in between.
Provenance is at the heart of our Butchery today and has been since we began in 1960 at our old Butcher’s shop in Easingwold marketplace. Over the decades of having a Butchery we have developed strong relationships with local farmers and suppliers and we continue to be passionate about providing meat which has been born and bred in North Yorkshire.
Lamb is home reared by Geoff & Anne, John's Mum & Dad, on our family farm in Oldstead; high welfare Pork comes from Wilson's of Sproxton; Beef is Aberdeen Angus from Rooke's of Newton-on-Ouse; Chicken is from Soanes Poultry at Middleton-on-the-Wolds; Eggs are from Pollards of Thirkleby. We use these farmers wherever possible, if they are unable to supply we use other North Yorkshire farmers to fulfil our requirements.
